Autumn Hawthorns along the Ridgeway Track
Another watercolour in my series on the Ridgeway track near Wantage in Oxfordshire. This time the strong reds of the hawthorn trees full of berries and Autumnal foliage were the inspiration for this painting contrasting with the greens of the trackside and fields.
The Ridgeway ancient track is thought to be Britain's oldest road and was known to be used by Roman soldiers and sheep herders alike. Today it is kept mostly free of traffic, is a haven of flora and fauna and enjoys beautiful views across the countryside of Wiltshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
Painted using watercolour on high quality 'not' pressed paper.
Available as limited ed giclee print
