Boats in the Beck, Low Tide, Staithes
This is a painting that I was lucky enough to start 'en plein air' on my visit to the lovely Staithes. The weather was beautiful and I had been on a visit to do some outdoor painting. This is an acrylic painting that I started there, but had to catch my train so sadly had to leave and finish it at home, but hopefully with the scene still fresh in my mind!
I was stood by one of the benches at the base of Cow Bar bank which regular visitors to Staithes will be familiar with, looking upstream of the Beck at low tide. There are a few boats gathered on the shore and the green one 'Kelt' made a nice focus for the painting.
Painted on gesso primed board and, although the painting is done with acrylics, it has a similar look to oils as I have painted it using layers of built up glazes. Ready to frame if preferred to your own choosing.
